Volleyball questions

Before you register

Which level should my athlete start in?

Start Up (ages 5–9 & 10–12) if they are learning the game. Level Up Beginner (10–12) if they have played a season and want in-house teams. Level Up 13–15 if they play on a school team or want to try out for club. Coaches move athletes between groups in the first week when needed.

How are club teams chosen?

At tryouts. Athletes are evaluated over the tryout session and placed on National, Regional or State teams by age group, or invited to keep developing in Level Up. Placement emails go out within a few days of tryouts.

My athlete tried out and was not placed. What now?

Keep developing: Level Up 13–15 trains Tue/Thu/Fri 4:15–6:15 PM, Sunday open gyms are $15, and rotating-pairs tournaments run Sat Nov 21 & Sat Dec 12. Many club players were Level Up athletes the season before their first roster spot.

What does a Level Up week look like?

10–12 Beginner trains Tue & Fri; the 13–15 group trains Thu & Fri. Each session is two hours: skills, positional work, then in-house games. Nov 17 – Jan 29.

What should they bring?

Court shoes, knee pads, athletic clothes and a water bottle. We provide balls, nets and training equipment.

What if we miss a session?

Coaches run a rolling curriculum, so a missed week is easy to pick back up. Extended absences: call us and we will work it out.

Where do the sessions run?

Inside the Kalsee Dome at Next Level Sports Center, 12733 US-131, Schoolcraft, 15 minutes south of Kalamazoo and Portage. Indoors all winter, no snow days.

Do you offer adult volleyball?

Yes. Sunday coed, women's and men's leagues start Nov 15 and Jan 17, as teams or free agents.

What's next for your athlete?

Winter training starts Nov 16

Indoors all winter, no snow days, and a coach who knows your athlete's name by week two.
